Chile advances in environmental care, needs more investment

Santiago de Chile, Jun 5 (Prensa Latina) Chile’s Government has nowadays advanced in protecting its rich biodiversity but it is still among 10 countries with least investment in this sector, according to a press release.

On the commemoration of the World Environment Day, the Austral University of Chile issued the outcomes of an investigation claiming that at least a $20M budget is really needed for nature attention.

In Chile, we have made significant progress in protecting critical ecosystems in Patagonia, but there is still much to be done, expert Maximo Sepulveda stressed, while adding that the effective protection of the richness of wildlife not only preserves the national heritage, but also generates economic activities such as nature tourism, and also favors local development and the communities’ welfare.
