Russia’s Eastern grouping halts Ukrainian offensive

Moscow, Jun 6 (Prensa Latina) The units of the Russian Eastern grouping stopped the offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the south of the Donetsk People's Republic, the Ministry of Defense reported.

According to the Ministry’s dispatch, the Ukrainian forces tried to continue the offensive that began on June 4th, focusing their main efforts in the direction of the town of Vremevskoi Vystup, to which end they reorganized the remnants of the 23rd and 31st Mechanized Brigades.

In addition to this, the Ukrainian troops used the reinforced 68th Mountain Brigade and 37th Marine Brigade to attempt an advance in the direction of the Oktiabrsky and Novodonetskoye state farm, the report specified.

The Ministry of Defense pointed out that the Ukrainian offensive came under fire from the land forces, assault aircraft, reactive and tube artillery, and heavy flamethrower systems from Russia’s Eastern troops.

“As a result of the active and selfless actions of the units of the Eastern group of forces, which showed courage and heroism, the enemy was stopped and did not reach their objectives,” the source reported, adding that the attacking forces suffered significant losses in personnel, losing hundreds of men, as well as a large amount of war material, including a significant number of armored vehicles delivered by the West.
