Television in this capital informed that the SNP, which supports strict observance of Switzerland’s neutrality, started a vote on this issue in the National Council (large chamber of parliament), but by a majority – 128 to 58 – its proposal was rejected.
Zelensky’s speech, according to Alfred Heer’s deputy, makes our neutrality more vulnerable.
He said his country should not allow pressures on the issue of sanctions and arms supplies.
The right-wing conservative SNP, which is part of the government, has the largest faction in the Parliament: 63 seats out of 244 in the two chambers.
The head of this faction, Thomas Ashy, recently said that the majority of its members would not attend the meeting, where Zelensky’s speech would be delivered.
