Al-Assad considered that Lebanon’s strength lies in its political and economic stability, and that its people are capable of realizing this stability through dialogue, consensus and adherence to principles rather than by betting on regional and global changes.
He highlighted the role played by former General Aoun in preserving the fraternal relationship between Damascus and Beirut, and expressed his confidence in the ability of the Lebanese to overcome all problems and challenges, and strengthen the role of their national and constitutional institutions.
According to the head of state, Syria and Lebanon cannot deal with their challenges separately, and the recent Arab rapprochement will have a positive effect on the two neighboring countries.
In turn, the former president said that Syria has overcome the difficult and dangerous stage thanks to the conscience of its people and their faith in their country, army and leadership.
Syria’s recovery and prosperity will have a good impact on Lebanon, he concluded.
