“We talked about the implementation of agreements on military cooperation between our countries, including the modernization of the ground forces and aviation, and we will continue to provide Dushanbe with appropriate assistance,” Lavrov said after meeting with his Tajik counterpart, Sirojiddin Muhriddin.
The head of Russian diplomacy added that his country was grateful to Tajikistan for creating conditions for the Russian 201st Military Base and holding several exercises and maneuvers.
“We will continue fighting terrorism, extremism, and drug trafficking,” the Russian foreign minister promised, noting that the negotiations also focused on the situation in Afghanistan.
Regarding that country, Lavrov said that Russia and Tajikistan hold regular consultations, and approaches from Moscow and Dushanbe to this issue coincide.
