china-eeuu-1-768x512
Beijing, Jun 19 (Prensa Latina) China today expressed hope that after the visit of Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the United States would contribute more to improve and stabilize bilateral relations, stressing that they are at the lowest and most critical level.

According to an official release, President Xi Jinping told the US Secretary of State that although progress was made and consensus was reached on specific issues, all interstate interactions should always be based on mutual respect and sincerity.

He referred to Beijing’s stance on sensitive issues and emphasized the decision to continue to make progress and take into account the understanding of him and President Joe Biden when they held talks in Indonesia last year.

Another statement revealed that Wang Yi, the head of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China, urged Blinken to redouble efforts to reverse the negative trend in bilateral ties and prioritize both dialogue and cooperation over confrontation.

“We should have a responsible attitude toward the people, history and the world (…) China and the United States have had ups and downs, it is necessary for the US side to reflect deeply and work with the Chinese side to manage differences and avoid strategic surprises,” he remarked.
