During the first day of the event on Equitable and Reasonable Utilization of Transboundary Watercourses in Africa, Mekonnen noted that the lack of political willingness and hegemonic trends over shared resources have been significantly contributing to little or no cooperation.
Plus, Mekonnen added “these challenges will continue opposing our shared aspirations to guarantee a sustainable development”.
He also pointed out it is time to step up efforts to pose these challenges based on the great advances made in the past to ensure equitable and reasonable use of transboundary resources.
