Security is maintained in El Salvador

San Salvador, Jun 25 (Prensa Latina) In a statement today, El Salvador authorities reported 18 homicide-free days in June, maintaining the trend that has been in place since January.

The statistics represent eight consecutive days without murders due to the actions of criminal groups.

This month surpassed the numbers of June of the previous year, which registered 15 days with no murders in the country, according to the report of the National Civil Police.

The government attributes this improvement to the application of the Territorial Control Plan and the exception regime, both legal tools that helped to combat homicides, extortion and crimes against property, which allowed the sum of 393 days without deaths due to gang violence since President Nayib Bukele has been in office. The government policy allowed the arrest of more than 70 thousand gang members or alleged accomplices, of which nearly five thousand were released for lack of evidence, and at least, 153 died in prison under government care.
