Cuban president pays tribute to revolutionaries killed by tyranny

Havana, Jun 30 (Prensa Latina) President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Friday paid tribute to revolutionaries Josué País, Floro Vistel, and Salvador Pascual, who were assassinated during the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship in 1957.

“The example of these boys continues to drive the revolution for which they gave their lives,” the president wrote on his Twitter account.

The three young men were members of the 26th of July Movement in Santiago de Cuba province. The movement was a political and military organization founded in 1955 by a group of revolutionaries led by Fidel Castro.

País, Vistel, and Pascual soon became involved in the struggle against the Batista dictatorship (1952-1959), carrying out secret actions such as arms smuggling, sabotages, and fundraising.

They were assassinated in 1957 while trying to disrupt a political rally supported by the Batista regime.
