Chinese automaker will have a plant in Europe

Beijing, Jul 5 (Prensa Latina) SAIC Motor, one of China's main vehicle manufacturers, will build a plant in Europe to assemble the units it will distribute in countries of the so-called Old Continent, local press reported.

According to the news site China.org.cn, with this decision the company seeks to guarantee localized production in that area, in view of a sustained increase in sales in recent times.

Official statistics for 2022 put the number of cars that SAIC Motor sent to Europe at more than 100,000, and in general it exported more than one million cars to different destinations around the world.

In the first half of this year, its exports grew 40% year-on-year by selling 530,000 internationally and it expects to end 2023 with the shipment of 1.2 million cars.

Executives of the automaker, forecast that Europe will become the most important market and sales will exceed 200,000 units per year.
