Heriberto Falcón, counselor minister of the Cuban Embassy, thanked the Government of San Juan Sacatepéquez for the award and recalled the almost 25 years of continuous work done by the Cuban army in white coats in remote places in this nation.
On November 5, 1998, following the effects of Hurricane Mitch, the first Cuban emergency medical contingent to arrive at Guatemala’s Pacific Naval Base, where a field hospital was set up.
