Lebanon asked the UN to stop Israeli violations

Beirut, Jul 7 (Prensa Latina) Najib Mikati, interim Prime Minister of Lebanon, called on the United Nations (UN) to work to stop Israeli violations, due to the continuous infringements to its sovereignty.

In a meeting with Aroldo Lazaro, head of the United Nations Interim Force (Unifil), and the special coordinator of the multilateral body here, Joanna Wronecka, the Cabinet member denounced 18 violations by the Tel Aviv entity in the recent period of the Blue Line.

On twitter the Lebanese government reaffirmed Lebanon’s commitment to the UN Security Council Resolution 1701, adopted on August 11, 2006 to emphasize the territorial integrity, sovereignty and political independence of the country within its internationally recognized borders.

The meeting with the participation also of Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib and the government’s coordinator with Unifil, Brigadier General Mounir Shehadeh, discussed the situation in the south following yesterday’s Israel shelling of the Kafr Shouba area in Lebanon and persistent enemy breaches on the border.

This week, the Lebanese Foreign Ministry rejected the Israeli violation of Resolution 1701 by preventing its citizens from entering the village of Ghajar and attempting to annex it.
