First election results announced in Santa Fe, Argentina

Buenos Aires, Jul 16 (Prensa Latina) The pre-candidate for governor of the "Unión por la Patria" (UP) alliance in the Argentine province of Santa Fe, Marcelo Lewandowski, declared himself the winner today within Peronism of the open primary, simultaneous and mandatory elections.

With 30.51 percent of the tables computed, Lewandowski (Elijo Hacer) headed the list of representatives of the Juntos Avancemos space with 65.60 points, while Marcos Cléri (Unidad Ciudadana) had 16.27 points and Leandro Busatto (Unamos Fuerzas) had 9.12 points.

In the case of the opposition coalition United to Change Santa Fe, the most voted was Maximiliano Pullaro (Santa Fe Can) with more than 58 percent.

In declarations to the press, Lewandowski pointed out that the first goal was achieved and urged UP members to strengthen the campaign in view of the general elections in this province, scheduled for September 10.

According to the electoral authorities, the turnout was around 60 percent and there were alarming attacks on the headquarters of the Construction Workers Union in Rosario and the city of Santa Fe, which are being investigated by the Police.

For the first time in this territory, young people from 16 years of age could vote, since up to now local regulations only allowed participation from 18 years of age.
