India and Mongolia hold Nomadic Elephant military drills

New Delhi, Jul 17 (Prensa Latina) India and Mongolia are exchanging best military practices during the 15th edition of the Nomadic Elephant 23 bilateral exercises, which opened in Ulaanbaatar on Monday, according to a press release.

A 43-strong Indian contingent is already in the Mongolian capital to participate in the maneuvers, which will be held in the north-central Asian country until July 31, the Indian Ministry of Defense informed.

The source stated that the drills will focus on counter-terrorism operations in mountainous terrain under the mandate of the United Nations.

During the Nomadic Elephant exercises, soldiers from the 84th Unit of the Mongolian Armed Forces and the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Regiment of the Indian Army will build positive military relations and develop interoperability, camaraderie, and friendship.

They will conduct field training and participate in activities to improve their skills and capabilities, including endurance, reflex firing, room intervention, and small-team tactics.
