Cuban National Rebellion Day is celebrated in Italy

Rome, Jul 26 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Embassy in Italy today hosted a solidarity act for the Caribbean country's National Rebellion Day, on the 70th anniversary of the Assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks.

Mirta Granda, head of that diplomatic mission, thanked the wide presence of representatives of political parties, social movements, unions, groups of friendship with Cuba, student organizations and in general of all the forces that in this European nation support and defend Cuba. the Cuban Revolution.

The ambassador highlighted the historical importance of the date that is celebrated today in her country and throughout the world, and that marked the beginning of the last stage of the struggles of the people of that nation to achieve their true independence, which came on January 1st. of 1959 with the revolutionary triumph.

The diplomat referred to the current moment that Cuba is experiencing, where an updating process is being developed that aims to build an even stronger, more prosperous and sustainable Socialism, after the promulgation of the new Constitution in April 2019.

He recognized the importance of the actions carried out by the friends of Cuba in Italy and in many parts of the world to disseminate the Cuban reality and counteract the strong discredit campaign against the Island, orchestrated by the United States and its allies, to which they allocate large resources. that enable information control.

She stated that the situation in Cuba is complex, since the international economic crisis is compounded by a US economic, commercial and financial blockade, intensified in recent years, and its unfair inclusion by the US government on the unilateral list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

That latest action is aimed at affecting Cuba economically in an interconnected international financial system largely controlled by the United States.

She reaffirmed that, despite all the attacks and pressures, the vast majority of the Cuban people maintain their firm decision to defend their revolutionary process and the chosen socialist path, to resist and win.

Granda stressed that this act at the diplomatic mission is just one of the many initiatives that are being developed today to commemorate the historic date of her homeland, including the one carried out by the La Villetta group, which on this day loads a container with donations for the Cuban people.

Members of the Italy-Cuba National Friendship Association (Anaic), Patria Socialista, the Italian Communist Party (PCI), the Socialist Party, Communist Refoundation, the Base Union, as well as the youth groups Cambiare Rotta and Alternative Student Organization (OSA), among other groups.

The speakers coincided in highlighting Cuba’s achievements, the example it sets for the world, and pointed out that “defending the Cuban Revolution is defending the right to a better world.”
