Havana, Aug 1 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's Gran Caribe Hotel Group is celebrating its 29th anniversary with the objective of expanding its scope and strengthening its four- and five-star establishments.

According to official company reports, Grupo Hotelero Gran Caribe S.A., a Cuban corporation, was created on August 1, 1994, in accordance with Cuban law.

The company was incorporated as an entity under the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) and its flagship establishment, which is also a leader in the Cuban hotel industry, is the emblematic Hotel Nacional de Cuba, which was inaugurated in 1930. This company owns more than 12,000 rooms in 45 hotels throughout the country, mainly in classic, historic hotels, hotels of singular architectural wealth and national monuments.

In particular, it is present in Havana, the capital’s eastern beaches, Varadero, Cienfuegos, Santiago de Cuba, and Cayo Largo del Sur, Cayo Guillermo and Cayo Coco.

For example, in Varadero, Cuba’s main coastal resort, the company runs 12 hotels, including Mystique Casa Perla and Club Kawama, with special emphasis on the Meliá Internacional.

In addition, its hotel network has attractive facilities located on the seafront, such as the El Eclipse (bar and loockout point) in Sunbeach and the Casa Perla, which highlight Gran Caribe’s work in Varadero in order to maintain high levels of customer’s satisfaction, according to company spokespersons.

Other hotels with a historic tradition are the Casa Granda in the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba, or the Jagua in the central city of Cienfuegos, along with the oldest hotel in operation in Cuba, the Inglaterra (1844).
