ROSAVIATSIYA stated that Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Malaysia would join the charter flight programs linking Russia with China and India.
Russian Tourism Industry Union Vice President Yuri Barzikin noted that the need to expand flights to Southeast Asia is due to the growing demand of Asian tourists that want to travel to Russia.
“With the new collective visa-free regime for China as of August 1, 2023, tourist traffic will increase significantly,” Barzikin added.
It is likely that the Russian Government could also introduce such a regime for India in coming fall. Yet the flow for other Southeast Asian countries is negligible, the introduction of e-visas for more than 50 territories may be stimulated, the executive stated.
