China launches anti-corruption campaign in health sector

china-salud
Beijing, Aug 15 (Prensa Latina) China has reportedly launched an anti-corruption campaign in the medical field, focusing on those who work in essential posts.

According to a Xinhua report, authorities will spend a year rectifying malpractices such as using power to seek rent or accept bribes.

The campaign will take into account the behavior of the administration, medical societies and associations, medical enterprises, and medical insurance funds.

According to the report, the National Health Commission is leading the investigation, which aims to foster an atmosphere of honesty and integrity in this sector.

Chinese authorities investigated 316,000 cases of corruption in the first half of the year, the Communist Party’s Central Commission for Discipline Inspection recently reported.

Some 258,000 officials, including 18 at the provincial or ministerial level, were punished, the National Supervisory Commission, attached to the disciplinary arm of the aforementioned political organization, stated.

Hence, the Chinese saying suggesting that the anti-corruption campaign has reached “both high-ranking, powerful “tigers” and lower-level “flies.”
