August keeps pace in days without homicides in El Salvador

San Salvador, Aug 30 (Prensa Latina) The National Civil Police (PNC) reported that August reached 19 days without homicides as a sign of the strengthening of security in El Salvador.

The eighth month of the year joined others that in 2023 maintained the trend of lower murders to reach a rate of 2.2 percent per 100,000 inhabitants at the end of this year, as the Minister of Defense, René Francis Merino, predicted yesterday.

This morning, official data published by PNC indicated that August 29th ended with zero victims in the whole country to reach 168 so far this year with that distinction that in the years of the current government the total number reached to 438, of which 324 occurred under the exception regime.

The daily homicide rate with the state of exception in El Salvador, that is in 17 months, is 0.55 per 100,000 people, according to the Minister of Defense, who assured that they compete with Canada to be the safest country in the Americas.
