Havana, Sep 7 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Thursday visited communities in the western province of Pinar del Río to check on the recovery of the territory after the effects of Tropical Storm Idalia.

According to the official profile of the Presidency on X, the head of State also assessed the progress made in the areas affected by Hurricane Ian, which hit the province in September 2022.

As part of his tour, Díaz-Canel met with an agro-forestry brigade dedicated to cutting wood for the recovery of tobacco houses, which were damaged by Ian’s winds.

He also talked with the residents of the Manuel Lazo Popular Council about the recovery of the western province, where more than 1,000 houses were damaged by this hydrometeorological phenomenon.

The President visited the Hermanos Lazo School, where 244 junior and senior high school students are taking classes.
