The encounter will be held in the municipality of Cienaga de Zapata, home to the largest wetland in the Insular Caribbean and where most of the populations of the endemic reptile are concentrated.

Scholars will exchange criteria and experiences in order to standardize their work methods in relation to researching on the subject of Crocodylus rhombifer. Scientists come from the provinces of Pinar del Rio, Havana, Ciego de Avila, Camagüey, Las Tunas, Granma, Matanzas, in addition to the Isle of Youth.
