Bolivian President praises National Alternative Education Day

La Paz, Sep 8 (Prensa Latina) Bolivian President Luis Arce praised on his X Social Media account the National Day of Alternative Education and the International Day of Literacy, and stressed the democratization of this activity.

Arce highlighted that so far some 368,596 people are trained in the 689 Alternative Education Centers existing in the country, and that 96,253 graduated in 2022 with the National Post-Literacy Program (PNP).

“Quality education is the best tool for liberation,” he added.

On September 8, 1965, the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) set the “International Literacy Day” in commemoration of the World Conference of Ministers of this field on the Eradication of Illiteracy.

Since then, this celebration promotes awareness of education for all, with effective policies and programs that provide access to quality education without discrimination.

Likewise, in Bolivia, Alternative Education Day has also been commemorated on this date since 2014.
