Escaped Pennsylvania prisoner Danelo Cavalcante in custody

Washington, Sep 13 (Prensa Latina) Fugitive prisoner Danelo Cavalcante, who kept the State of Pennsylvania on the run for 14 days, was captured Wednesday to the relief of inhabitants and press media.

The news, which could have been local, came out to the national level, was even subject of expert analysis and competed with Tuesday´s announcement about the impeachment investigation order against President Joe Biden.

Cavalcante, 34, is now in custody. TV footage were immediately disclosed and it was observed, among others, how a nearly 50-police officer team posed for the picture with the fugitive.

The fugitive was busted Wednesday morning in Chester County after local authorities conducted a ground and air pursuit over the past two weeks, and tracked him down using heat-signal technology from an airplane, as well as canine techniques.

Cavalcante escaped from prison on August 31, where he was serving a life sentence for murder.

Surveillance cameras recorded the right time in which Cavalcante, in a narrow corridor between two walls, placed his two hands and feet on each side and “walked” upwards.

Then he ran on the roof of the jail, dodged fences and barbed wire and managed to escape, and from that moment on, he became a headache for police and special forces.

Chester residents are breathing a sigh of relief. It was already difficult, some said, to move around the city due to continuous controls and fear he would break into their homes.

Cavalcante changed his appearance during his escape, stole a car and, prior to his recapture, broke into a property where he took a firearm.

A native of Brazil, Cavalcante was serving time after being convicted on August 16 for murdering his ex-girlfriend Deborah Brandão, a crime that in Pennsylvania carries a sentence of life without parole.
