The Syrian Defense Ministry reported that the operation was conducted from the Mediterranean Sea by rocket blasts against air defense batteries.

This is the 20th attack conducted by Israel in 2023. The previous one occurred on August 22 against several positions close to the capital.

The Ministry detailed that twelve of these hostile actions had been targeted against Damascus and its surroundings, three in the Aleppo airport in northern Syria, two against the Messiaf municipality in the Hama province, five against the governorate of Homs, and three against Tartous.

Israel usually attacks Syria under the pretext of cracking down on Iranian targets, while Damascus claims these clashes bring casualties among civilians, and grants that Israel’s actual aim is to make longer the war, keeping Syria unstable and weakening its national army.
