Foreign Minister of Venezuela to speak at UN General Assembly

United Nations, Sep 21 (Prensa Latina) Minister for Foreign Affairs of Venezuela Yván Gil will give a speech in the 78th period of sessions of the United Nations General Assembly, where he will denounce the unilateral coercive measures by the United States.

Since his arrival at the UN headquarters in New York, Gil developed an intense agenda of meetings with authorities from international organizations, presidents and counterparts from several countries, and spoke on Monday at the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Summit.

During his speech at the SDG Summit, Gil reaffirmed Venezuela’s faithful commitment to finding solutions to help achieve the expected results in terms of sustainable development. He considered that these should be supportive, multidimensional, differentiated, concrete, immediate, inclusive, innovative and concerted, so that they promote development to meet the proposed ultimate goal of “leaving no one behind.”

Yvan Gil held a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, on Wednesday. Both ministers reaffirmed the friendly and strategic relations between Caracas and Moscow and in favor of continuing to build a new multipolar and fairer world order.

Gil stated on social networks that Venezuela and Russia will always be important allies in multilateral stages such as the United Nations General Assembly.

Lavrov celebrated the proactive role of Venezuela in regional affairs, its contribution to intensifying integration processes in the American continent and promoting rapprochement between Latin America and the Eurasian Economic Union.
