Puerto Rican group condemns attack on Cuban Embassy in Washington

San Juan, Sep 26 (Prensa Latina) The Hostosian National Independence Movement (MINH) of Puerto Rico on Tuesday expressed its firm condemnation of the terrorist attack on Cuba's Embassy in Washington on Sunday.

“We called on the Government of the United States to comply scrupulously with international agreements related to the security and integrity of the Cuban Embassy and its officials in the United States,” the organization said.

MINH Co-Presidents Julio A. Muriente and Angel Rodríguez-León stressed that “it is inadmissible from every point of view that the US Government allows – and even encourages – terrorist acts such as this one, with absolute impunity for those who perpetrate them.”

They recalled that in April 2020, the Cuban Embassy in Washington was the target of a shooting attack that caused serious damage to its physical structure and put officials and workers at risk.

“At this point the person responsible for that terrorist action has not been prosecuted,” the Puerto Rican leftist leaders recalled.

They warned that those responsible for these attacks are encouraged by the hostile policy of the US Government against the Cuban Revolution.

“They are a reflection and consequence of the policy of State terrorism that this country has been exercising against Cuba for decades,” the MINH co-presidents insisted, adding that “in the face of this new terrorist attack, we reaffirm our solidarity and profound respect for Cuba, its government and its people.”

“The Cuban Revolution has confronted and defeated countless aggressions for more than six decades of history and its international prestige was demonstrated again at the United Nations General Assembly, which met recently,” they said.

On behalf of the MINH National Directorate, they noted that Cuba continues to pave the liberating path of our peoples in the 21st century, and no terrorist act will stop it.
