Holidays begin in China, a benefit for the economy

Beijing, Sep 29 (Prensa Latina) The holidays that begin in China on Friday are the second most important festivity in the country, after the Lunar New Year Festival, and represent benefits for the economy.

Millions of citizens will spend the next few days with their families, so a significant increase in domestic travel is expected, a typical phenomenon during these festivities.

China Railway predicted around 190 million passenger trips between September 27 and October 8, more than twice those of last year.

In addition, the Civil Aviation Administration said 21 million passengers will travel by air, and more than 80 percent of those flights will be on domestic routes.

Experts consider that the holidays are an incentive for the world’s second largest economy, which has an economic growth model based on domestic consumption.

In this regard, the demand for travel, hotels and food is expected to be higher than in previous years, taking into account that the country lifted the restrictions adopted during the Covid-19 pandemic in January.

The holidays start today with the Mid-Autumn Festival and will last until October 6.

During that period, China will commemorate its National Day, to celebrate the founding of the People’s Republic of China on October 1, 1949.
