Cuban President congratulates Putin on his birthday

Havana, Oct 7 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on the occasion of his 71st birthday on Saturday.

With the sincere affection of those who have felt the value of his friendship at difficult times for Cuba, I want to congratulate and wish good health on his birthday to the President of the Russian Federation, my friend Vladimir Putin, the Cuban head of State wrote on the social network x.

Havana and Moscow maintain historic relations of friendship and cooperation in various fields, such as economy, energy, transportation, industry, pharmaceuticals, among others, which were forged on the basis of mutual respect, since the time of the Soviet Union.

Russia has made humanitarian contributions of food, medicine, supplies and equipment, in the face of epidemic events, climate disasters and other complex situations, and supports Cuba’s demand for the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.

Cuba, in turned, has condemned and rejected the expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) towards Russia’s borders, as well as the measures and sanctions that have been taken as a method of coercion against that country.
