OCI
Riyadh, Oct 10 (Prensa Latina) The Government of Saudi Arabia called an urgent meeting of the ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), made up of 57 countries, to address the situation in Gaza, official sources reported on Tuesday.

The date of the meeting has not been set yet, but an emergency meeting of the member countries of the Arab League is scheduled for Wednesday in Cairo, the Egyptian capital.

The OIC is headquartered in Saudi Arabia and is the largest political bloc of Islamic countries, including non-Arab Muslim States such as Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Hussein al-Sheikh, assured on Tuesday that the Palestinian Authority is in contact with international leaders to stop Israel’s clashes and bombings, after the offensive launched on Saturday by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) from the Gaza Strip.
