India brings together G20 parliamentarians at LIFE forum

New Delhi, Oct 12 (Prensa Latina) Parliamentarians from the G20 member nations are meeting at the Lifestyle for the Environment (LIFE) forum on the promotion of sustainable behaviors to combat climate change.

The forum, which has as its motto “Parliaments for an Earth, a family, a future”, will serve as a platform for the exchange of ideas and successful experiences, and will precede the ninth edition of the Summit of Presidents of Parliaments of the G20 (P20 Summit) to be held on Friday and Saturday in New Delhi.

It will also be a key moment for raising awareness about the importance and objectives of the LIFE movement, initiated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June 2022, according to the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.

The sessions of the P20 Summit will begin on Friday with the participation of Ashebir Woldegiorgis Gayo, interim president of the Pan-African Parliament, thanks to the inclusion of the African Union in the bloc at the meeting of the G20 early on last September.

The leaders of the G20 Legislatures and invited countries will explore alternatives that promote global governance and address problems with effective solutions based on parliamentary norms.

The event will be inaugurated by Modi and will feature four high-level sessions in which the topics of the 2030 Agenda for the Sustainable Development Goals, sustainable energy transitions, mainstreaming gender equality and digital transformation based on LIFE will be deliberated.

The Summit will also provide opportunities to promote international cooperation, cultural exchanges and strengthen diplomatic relations between nations.
