Cuba condemns indiscriminate bombings on Gaza

Havana, Oct 19 (Prensa Latina) Cuba strongly condemned the indiscriminate bombings on the population of Gaza, as well as the murders of civilians and innocent people due to the conflict in the Middle East, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez stated on Thursday.

“Cuba strongly condemns the indiscriminate bombings on the population of Gaza (Palestine) and the destruction of homes, hospitals and civil infrastructure,” Rodríguez said at a press conference in Havana’s El Laguito center to address the serious international situation in the Middle East.

Nothing can justify such actions that are collective punishment, serious violations of international humanitarian law and war crimes and crimes against humanity, the head of Cuban diplomacy stressed.

“We strongly condemn the murders of civilians and innocent people as a result of the current escalation without differentiating their ethnicity, origin, nationality or religious faith. We share the pain of the Arab and Hebrew communities of Cuba,” he stated.

Rodríguez pointed out that in the current very serious situation the United Nations Security Council has not even been able to call to stop the massacre.

The Government of the United States vetoed a proposal at the Security Council on Wednesday that merely called for a humanitarian pause in the confrontation to allow aid to access Gaza and guarantee the protection of civilians. Washington used the pretext that it was premature, Rodríguez denounced.

He informed that he had met on Wednesday with the ambassadors of the member countries of the League of Arab States accredited in Cuba, with whom he spoke about the need to find an urgent solution and confirmed Cuba’s invariable solidarity with the Palestinian and Arab cause.
