Ethiopia reaffirms will to defend principles of the UN Charter

Addis Ababa, Oct 24 (Prensa Latina) Ethiopia, as one of the founding members of the United Nations, will always be a fervent defender of the principles of the UN Charter, an official source said.

On the occasion of the 78th year of the largest international organization in existence, the State Minister for Political and Economic Diplomacy of the local Foreign Ministry, Mesganu Arga, stressed that the African country has been a proud and profound voice of multilateral diplomacy in the UN system.

He pledged to promote the unique partnership between the UN and the continent during the event held at the headquarters of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.

Arga further called on the international community to recommit itself to the spirit of the UN Charter and to meaningful and urgent reforms of the current global architecture.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ethiopian government, UN staff, the African Union, diplomatic missions and Permanent Representatives accredited to Addis Ababa, among others.

The event marks the anniversary of the entry into force of the UN Charter in 1945.
