Latinos advocate peace between Palestinians and Israelis

Managua, Oct 26 (Prensa Latina) A survey carried out in Latin America and the Caribbean shows that 70.3 percent of Latin Americans consider that in order to solve the conflict between Israelies and Palestinians, both peoples must live together in peace in the same territory.

The survey was carried out by the M&R Consultores firm corresponding to the second half of 2023. 29.7 percent of respondents said that a new Palestinian state should be created with its own territory and Government.

53.8 percent of respondents described the role of the UN in the new escalation as negative, while 46.2 percent considered it positive.

The sample coveres an estimated 131,116,000 people from 12 countries.

The survey also makes reference to the war between Russia and Ukraine. 90.7 percent of respondents consider it correct that Latin American rulers do not get involved or take sides.

It also includes opinions about other issues in the region such as colonialism, national sovereignty and capitalism as the cause of poverty, hunger and wars.

Analyst Xavier Díaz-Lacayo explained that Latin America is united and is breaking obsolete paradigms: “First against the colonialist and neocolonialist invasion that was born on October 12th, secondly against the idea of the Monroe Doctrine and the thought that we are someone’s backyard; thirdly against the manipulation of God’s designs, especially that concept of manifest destiny, that gives US foreign policy the support of God to invade,” he stressed.
