An attempt by the Ukrainian military to commit a terrorist attack against targets on the territory of the Russian Federation was prevented, Sputnik news agency reported.

Russia has been conducting a special military operation since February 24, 2022, which, according to President Vladimir Putin, was aimed at responding to a request from the self-proclaimed republics of Lugansk and Donetsk to protect the population of the Donbas regions in southeastern Ukraine.

During the military operation, Russian forces took control of the Zaporozhie and Kherson regions which became part of the territory of the Russian Federation, along with Donetsk and Lugansk.
