Installed capacity of renewable energy breaks record in China

Beijing, Oct 30 (Prensa Latina) China installed in the first nine months of this year a renewable energy capacity of 172 million kilowatts, a record compared to previous years, official sources reported today.

According to the National Energy Administration, this figure represents an increase of 93 percent over the same period in 2022, which shows the country’s commitment to promote environmental development.

Moreover, that figure represents 76 percent of the total new power generation capacity installed so far in 2023.

Overall, the China has managed to develop a renewable power generation capacity of 1.38 billion kilowatts, accounting for 49.6 percent of its total installed power generation capacity.

This country is committed to the energy transition towards the use of renewable and clean sources, amidst a remarkable reduction in carbon dioxide emissions over the past decade, according to the National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation.
