“The Director of the capital’s prison Luis Esquivel stated the authorities have so far just rescued 80% of arms,” jail official Jose Espinola stressed.

Espinola noted Esquivel is the only one able to circulate among inmates, and he has insisted we must return to our posts, warning prisoners are in possession of long and short weapons.

The spokesperson assured no government official has so far come to inquire about the situation of guards who are on strike in front of the National Penitentiary un order to reject their entrance to the prison afresh.”

Tacumbu prison began to receive new inmates since last Saturday by order of Justice Minister Angel Barchini and in alleged response to the demands of the Rotela criminal clan.
