DPRK and Russia to strengthen cooperation

Pyongyang, Nov 16 (Prensa Latina) The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the Russian Federation agreed to foster cooperation in various fields in compliance with an agreements signed by their top leaders in September.

The state news agency KCNA reported on Thursday that the 10th Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Trade, Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between the two countries was held in this capital on Wednesday.

The meeting defined the measures to revitalize and expand exchanges and multifaceted bilateral cooperation in economy, foreign trade, science, technology and other fields, it said.

From September 12 to 18, the General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Committee, Kim Jong Un, paid a visit to Russia, where he held official and private talks with President Vladimir Putin.

The DPRK Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces visited Russian factories of armaments, rockets, air and naval defense units, space exploration and research centers.

The Intergovernmental Commission for Trade, Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation focused on the agreements adopted by Kim and Putin.

The meeting was headed by the co-chairs of the mechanism, DPRK Minister for Foreign Economic Relations Yun Jong Ho and Russian Minister for Natural Resources and Ecology Alexander Kozlov.
