Jordan stresses need to lift blockade of Gaza

Amman, Nov 20 (Prensa Latina) King Abdullah II of Jordan on Monday stressed the need to have the blockade imposed by Israel on the people of the Gaza Strip lifted.

At a meeting with the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, the King called for pressure to guarantee the supplies of food, medicine, water and fuel to the coastal enclave.

In this regard, he emphasized the urgency of working intensively to stop Israel’s war against the territory.

According to the Jordan News Agency, the King warned about the disastrous repercussions of the ongoing war, whose victims are innocent civilians.

Abdullah II also warned about ongoing escalations and violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

At the same time, he noted that the only way to resolve the conflict is the two-State solution, which guarantees stability and security for all.

Earlier, the Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives, Ahmed Safadi, asked the Law Commission to review the agreements signed with the Israeli Government and provide the necessary recommendations in this regard.

Earlier this month, Jordan decided to summon its ambassador to Israel immediately for consultations and as a protest against the aggression against the Gaza Strip.
