López Obrador rejects privatization policy of president-elect Milei

Mexico City, Nov 22 (Prensa Latina) The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, expressed again his disagreement with the privatization policy proclaimed by president-elect of Argentina, Javier Milei.

In response to a question on the matter at his morning press conference, López Obrador said he had already spoken on the subject yesterday (he said ironically that the Argentine people had given themselves a self-goal) but he repeated that he did not support anyone and he does maintain that he does not agree with the reactionary conservative thinking in any country in the world.

I do not agree with the privatization policy, the authoritarianism, in which people only have the option of paying tuition fees to be able to study and only be cured if they pay doctors or private clinics.

He insisted on his criteria, put into practice in Mexico, that health and education are not privileges, they are rights of the people and if one gets sick, there is no way to be cured. Where is the state? Is everything going to be left in the hands of the market, he asked, and responded with another question: are human beings merchandise?

No, he said categorically. The State has to fulfill its social responsibility and I will never agree with that classist, authoritarian, dishonest policy, not only intellectually but also those who promote those policies who are very corrupt, like most thieves in the world and identify with them, turn their backs on the people, like most of the thieves.

But since they are part of the dominant oligarchy, he added, they dedicate themselves to plunder, steal, oppress, exploit, and humiliate the people. They do not even lose their honorability, to the extent that they make themselves an example of that attribute.

I cannot agree with that, it is inhuman, and contrary to any doctrine or any religion in the world or the humanist thought of non-believers, I will never agree, nor am I very interested in having relations with people like that.

He clarified that he can coexist with people of the right who are not the intellectual authors of these policies, and those who shock him are the ones who elaborate these lies, these sophisms, this distribution of criteria that do not even form part of an ideology.

I respect the decision of the people, but I am also free and I say what I think, he concluded.
