Arce denounces political intention of speculation with hydrocarbons

La Paz, Dec 1 (Prensa Latina) Bolivia is facing today a real battle against speculation and fuel speculation with the intention of affecting the national government, President Luis Arce denounced.

“There is a speculation that originates not only from the declarations of some opposition deputies”, assured the head of state. He affirmed that after constant monitoring by the National Hydrocarbons Agency (ANH) it was confirmed that a tanker truck was diverting 350 thousand liters per month, in complicity with the Full Tank service station, in the locality of Achica Arriba, Viacha, province of Ingavi, in the department of La Paz.

See the issue of speculation and agio that was taking place,” said the dignitary, “it is not a story what we said, this is very important that the population knows, we are making the greatest efforts, about a million liters that we are additionally offering to the population and there are more and more queues at the pumps.

According to the ANH, around 30 percent of the fuel marketed by this intervened service station was diverted to illicit activities.

The President blamed the speculation on “bad Bolivians” who are generating a mistaken sensation that there is a shortage of diesel and gasoline”.

“So that you realize -he explained-, in diesel oil, in November 2021, we were dispatching from YPFB for consumption seven million 214 thousand liters; in 2022 (…), seven million 170 thousand, and this year, because of everything that has happened in the media and so on, we have dispatched eight million 120 thousand liters (…)”.

He noted that despite this almost one million liters more than in 2022, there are vehicle lines at the service stations.

Based on all these arguments, Arce called to “fight this excessive fuel consumption and speculation, because it is part of a campaign to discredit the national Government which, as you have seen, with the data, we are making the best of our efforts”.

He expressed the hope that, once again, rationality prevails among Bolivians, “there cannot be these deviations which only generate a wrong feeling that there is not enough diesel and gasoline”.

He insisted that “despite the international prices” of fuels, “we are making an enormous effort to guarantee the prices of the family basket”.
