Lacalle Pou said he will propose it at the next summit of the Southern Common Market to be held next week, on December 4 and 5 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

“We are going to ask for a meeting of Mercosur heads of State with the Chinese head of State. If not, that the technical services of Mercosur meet with China, because there has not been a meeting, it has been a long time. And it is very important, China wants it”, he assured from the department of Cerro Largo, northeast of here.

On different positions in the South American bloc regarding Uruguay’s dealings with China, the president said:

“China is for moving forward with Mercosur or bilaterally with Uruguay. What it does not want, as no country in the world wants, is to have noise, conflicts, from other countries”.
