Agents involved in the operation found the military equipment packed in boxes inside a container belonging to International Auto Supply (IAS), one of the main companies being investigated for arms trafficking under Operation Dakovo, launched early this month to combat this scourge, reported ABC Color.
Officials from the Public Prosecutor’s Office and members of the National Anti-Drug Secretariat (Senad) opened the container on Monday at the headquarters of the state-run Directorate of War Materials (Dimabel), whose some of its former directors were charged in the operation, added the sources.
This structure gave to their activities a legal cover; they always try to cover these illegal acts in this way.
From the opening of the container, we will determine all these questions’, declared Senad Minister Jalil Rachid.
A group of 13 high-ranking Paraguayan officials were the first to be arrested in the Dakovo operation launched on December 5 against international arms trafficking, reported Senad.
