Syria rejects OPCW resolution, brands it as politicized

Damascus, Dec 23 (Prensa Latina) The Syrian Government on Saturday criticized the recent decision made by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) on Syria and termed it as politicized and distorted.

The Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Syrian Permanent Delegation to the United Nations, Al-Hakam Dendi, reaffirmed the resolution would lead to a risky stage in the work of the OPCW and its future, and increases the polarized and politized world.

Damascus also rejects this resolution and considers it a deviation from the framework of the Chemical Weapons Convention that regulates the work of the Organization, and only represents the isolationist positions of Western countries, the diplomat explained.

Dendi added that the Western countries intend with this action to reach things they could not achieve through failed attacks and political campaigns against Syria.

Dendi held Western countries responsible for the negative effects the OPCW faces and will face as a result of these countries’ imposition of decisions that increase division and polarization.

The OPCW decision bans Syria from importing raw materials or equipment for chemical industry facilities.
