Some 61,265 people in this situation in the US come from El Salvador, according to a report by the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

This figure between January and November represents 2.07 percent of the total of 2,956,14 million irregular migrants identified by the institution to date, which contrasts with the 689,208 migrants in similar condition, originating from Mexico.

El Salvador ranks 13th among the countries with the highest number of irregular migrant arrivals during the eleven months of the year, according to the latest update of the report “Encounters between the Border Patrol and the Office of Field Operations by area of responsibility and component”.

In the so-called Northern Triangle, Guatemala is the country with the highest number of irregular migrants identified with an accumulated figure of 227,531 of its nationals, of which 26,499 were in the month of November alone.

On the other hand, this media identified that the registration of irregular migrants from El Salvador increased significantly since August, when CBP reported a total of 6,247 nationals in the territory.
