Cuba celebrates revolutionary triumph with culture

Havana, Jan 1 (Prensa Latina) Cuba is celebrating the arrival of the New Year and the 65th anniversary of the triumph of its Revolution on January 1, 1959, with shows, concerts, and other initiatives in all municipalities, the Ministry of Culture informed.

The main event will take place on the esplanade of La Piragua, in Havana’s seawall area, with the performance of soloists and first-level orchestras.

The Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC) will screen classic Cuban films.

“The Revolution in the Cuban Cinema of the Revolution” began in late 2023 and will continue until January 7 at Hall 1 of the Infanta Multiplex Cinema Cultural Center and the Fidel Castro Center, both in Havana.

The National Ballet of Cuba, directed by prima ballerina Viengsay Valdés, will stage “The Nutcracker” at the Avellaneda Hall of the National Theater of Havana this week, with the performance of prominent ballet dancers.

The Cuban capital will have a varied cultural program and is already preparing for Cuba’s Jazz Festival from January 21 to 28.

The cities of Havana and Santiago de Cuba will host the virtuosity of national and foreign artists and creators who will participate in the 39th edition of the Jazz Plaza International Festival.

Another major cultural event is the International Book Fair, from February 15 to 24, which turns the capital into a leading center to promote literature and books in the region.
