ALBA-TCP condemned Argentine justice order on Venezuelan plane

Caracas, Jan 4 (Prensa Latina) The ALBA-TCP today strongly condemned the order of an Argentine judicial authority, which attempts to carry out the theft of a plane belonging to the company Emtrasur, a subsidiary of the Venezuelan airline Conviasa.

The member states of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) indicated in a statement that the Boeing 747 was hijacked in that country in June 2022.

The text denounced that the “illegal detention and the confiscation order” demonstrate that not even the forms of servility to US imperialism are preserved.

He stated that its kidnapping and confiscation derived from the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States government, which threaten the sovereignty of the Bolivarian Republic and violate the fundamental principles of the Charter of the United Nations and International Law.

The Latin American and Caribbean integration bloc once again joins the demand of the people and Government of Venezuela and supports the legal, diplomatic and political actions undertaken by the Executive to secure its assets.

The Southern Aerocargo Transport Company (Emtrasur) urged international aeronautical authorities this Thursday to enforce current legal regulations and not grant overflight authorization or technical stopover to the hijacked plane.

An official note from the entity indicated that “they would participate in the theft of this legitimate asset” referring to this Venezuelan air cargo transport company, with the initials YV 3531.

The text indicated that the aircraft, dedicated to the operation of the cargo and mail transportation service, is “duly authorized” by the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics and the code (AOC ESU-078) assigned by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The state entity categorically rejected and condemned the arbitrary and illegal decision of the Lomas de Zamora Federal Court, instructed by Judge Federico Villena.

He stressed that with this “arbitrary decision,” the Argentine Government not only violated human rights, but also due process in compliance with international regulations, as it is a member state of the ICAO.

In relation, he noted, with its obligations applicable to air navigation of the Conventions on International Civil Aviation and on Transit of International Air Services that “prohibits the seizure of an aircraft in service.”

He mentioned that the plane’s crew was illegally detained for five months in Argentina and the aircraft hijacked for one year and six months “without any evidence”, added to the material losses caused by damages to Venezuelan public assets.
