France calls for a cease-fire in Gaza, a two-state solution

Paris, Jan 4 (Prensa Latina) France on Thursday insisted on its call for a humanitarian truce and a cease-fire in the Palestinian Gaza Strip in order to pave the way to a two-state solution.

In its daily press briefing, France´s Foreign Ministry strongly called for such a scenario, in order to reopen between Palestinians and Israelis a political horizon that would lead to peaceful coexistence in the Middle East.

Only a two-state solution can credibly respond to legitimate aspirations of both sides for peace and security, the French ministry stressed a few days before three months of violence in Gaza, where humanitarian situation is still unprecedented.

The Foreign Ministry assured to act within the framework of the “peace and security for all” initiative presented by President Emmanuel Macron during his tour across the Middle East at the end of October, as he paid an official visit to Israel, Palestine and Jordan.
