The ship left Shanghai’s Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal on January 1 and made stops at ports in Jeju Island, Republic of Korea, and the Japanese cities of Nagasaki and Fukuoka, before returning to its point of origin.

This tourist ship marks an important milestone for China’s shipbuilding industry, since it weighs 135,500 tons and can accommodate a maximum of 5,246 passengers in its 2,125 rooms.

According to data from specialized sources, the cruise ship has a public area of 16 floors and 40 thousand square meters for living and entertainment, which is why it is known as a “modern city on the sea”.

For the ship to operate, there are 107 different systems, 25 million parts and components, 4,750 kilometers of cables and 365 kilometers of pipes, China Daily reported.

Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co. began construction in 2019 and launched it for the first time at sea last June.

Niklas Peterstam, the captain of the Adora Magic City, told CCTV that it is a very beautiful ship, with the latest technologies, and a lot of quality and stability.
