Caracas, Jan 9 (Prensa Latina) The National Assembly (Parliament) of Venezuela unanimously approved today an agreement that granted the corresponding honors for the transfer of the remains of General Domingo Antonio Sifontes to the National Pantheon.

Congressman Alexis Rodriguez submitted the proposal in the first item of the agenda of this Tuesday’s ordinary session and stressed that the ‘hero of the homeland’, born in Cantaura, Anzoategui state, was a brilliant officer of the Venezuelan Army.

He also praised his ‘impeccable performance’ as explorer, protector of the indigenous peoples and defender of the interests of the nation against any foreign incursion by the British Empire.

It also recognized him as an ‘indomitable military leader’ who defended the national sovereignty and as one of the greatest Venezuelan patriots and worthy soldiers of the homeland.

This agreement was forwarded to President Nicolas Maduro and to the Minister for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace, Remigio Ceballos.

During the last four days and more than 1,148 kilometers traveled, the soldier known as the ‘terror of the English’ for his defense of Venezuela’s sovereignty received the corresponding honors from the Bolivarian National Armed Forces and the people in the states of Bolivar, Anzoategui and Miranda, and the Capital District (Caracas).
