U.S. heavy snowfall affects flights to Puerto Rico

San Juan, Jan 10 (Prensa Latina) Heavy snowfalls affecting the northeastern United States led on Wednesday to the suspension of 19 commercial flights, five departures and 14 arrivals at the Isla Verde International Airport, in Puerto Rico.

According to CEO privatizing Aerostar Company Jorge Hernandez, flights correspond to several airlines. The company turns out to be the main Puerto Rican air terminal, located in the Isla Verde area in the Carolina municipality.

Among the airlines with delayed departures are Frontier, United Airlines, Jet Blue and Avelo; while those with delayed arrivals are Frontier, Jet Blue, Spirit and United.

Potential travelers were advised to register with the automatic alert services offered by the airlines.

Hernandez further recommended arriving at the airport about three hours in advance to reduce the odds of mishaps and to have a better experience in the travel process.

Regarding flights with delays, some come from the cities of Orlando, Tampa, Philadelphia and New York, among others. The five flights that currently have delayed departures include destinations such as Atlanta, Philadelphia and New Jersey, among others.
